transformation
This exhibition opened March 1, 2011
Comments from our Judge, Hazel Ross
Before I looked at the entrants I consulted
Webster’s Dictionary to clarify the possible
interpretations of the word “transformation”, which
defined transformation as “changes in form,
appearance, nature or character”.
Choosing the winners was not an easy task and I
was more than impressed with the creative
interpretations expressed, and the range and use of
media used by the entrants.
I was completely captivated by “Flowing Streams
Chrysalis” and I had no hesitation in awarding “Best
of Show” to this piece which really intrigued me and
drew me into its interior and its complexities.
I loved the organic energy and freshness of
“Meadows”
I was moved by the idea of beauty emerging from
pain in “Vertebral Distractions” as well as by the
delicacy of the drawing.
I loved the feeling of the nascent brooding
power in “Cauldron” and the unusual use of the
media.
Thank you for allowing me to judge
“Transformations”.
